Baseline Testing
York Region Football has partnered with Honsberger Physio to deliver baseline concussion testing to all tackle players this Spring 2022. As part of YRFA's overall safety strategy, this new feature will support safe Return to Play faster, with baseline data to ensure data based decisions.
Why Test?
A baseline concussion test shows how well your brain is currently functioning and can be useful in diagnosing a concussion after an injury. This testing is already included in your Spring 2022 tackle registration fees.
How to Book Your Appointment - Due by May 27th
Baseline Concussion Tests can be booked at either their Aurora or Markham locations. Please call to book and indicate you are booking for a player with York Region Lions:

What to Expect
There is no charge for current York Region Lions tackle football players. Please wear active/gym clothes and bring your running shoes. The Baseline Concussion Test will be 30-minutes long using 4 validated systems to measure your cognitive ability. The Baseline Concussion Test is scaled based on age and is driven by an individual's own personal abilities. This will not be compared against teammates. Athletes are being testing against themselves, not against anyone else. This will provide normative data to ensure it is safe for our athletes to return to learn and play in the event of an injury.
There will also be an at-home component where a computer is needed. The Honsberger Team will require an email and date of birth to complete this component.
You will receive an email from Cambridge Brain Sciences and it is important to complete this component within 48 hours of your in-clinic test.
Family Discount
For any families who wish to have their other children baseline tested (not a current YRFA tackle player), Honsberger Physio+ is offering a discounted rate of $65/test. Please mention that you are a family member of a York Lion to receive this discount. Parents, this applies for you as well!
The deadline to book and complete your testing is May 27th, 2022.
