Coach Registration
Coaching with York Region Lions Football is a rich and rewarding experience. We are currently recruiting for 2026 assistant coaches for both flag and tackle. Please email Jonathan (Coach Stats) at coaching@yorkregionfootball.com if you are interested.
**ALL REQUIRED COSTS WILL BE COVERED BY THE LIONS. PLEASE RETAIN ALL RECEIPTS**
2026 Winter Training Coaching Requirements
1. Vulnerable Sector Screening (Annual)

Must be completed through your local police service:

Required for all individuals working with minors

Police officers, firefighters, teachers, and EMTs may upload proof of employment when prompted on the website
2. Football Ontario Insurance (Annual)
-
Must be completed before doing the certifications below as it provides member pricing

Required for all coaches

You need a TeamLinkt account to register. it is free
- Go to 2026 Coaches Registration > Tackle Football Coach or Flag Football Coach
- Login to TeamLinkt
- Fill out information
- When prompted for organization, select York Region Football Association
- You do not have to upload a Background check. just bypass it.
3. NCCP Registration (One Time, only register if you don’t have an NCCP Profile)

Gives you access to the certifications below

Required for all coaches
4. Coach Application (Annual)

Apply as a coach through the York Lions website
-
If you do not have a RAMP account, you will be prompted to create one
5. Rowan's Law Sign-Off (Annual)
-
Print off the sheet. Sign the sheets and bring it to the first practice. Please give it to Jonathan (Coach Stats).
Required Before the Season (April 2026)
Everything above PLUS:
6. Safe Contact Certification (Required every 5 years)

Required for contact coaches.

Cost: $50 (reimbursed with receipt)

One-time certification with a refresher every 5 years

Workshop dates: Jan 10, 24 / Feb 6 / Mar 28 / Apr 11, 25 / May 23
7. Community Sport Coach (NCCP)

Required for coaches of athletes under 14

One-time certification
- Cost: $50 (reimbursed with receipt)

Workshop dates: Jan 4, 17 / Feb 21 / Mar 14 / Apr 18 / May 9
8. Making Headway - Concussion Awareness (eLearning)

Mandatory, free, one-time certification
9. Safe Sport Training (eLearning)
